So I probably spend way too much time on CNet.com than I should, being the fairly tech
savvy bloke that I am. But, hey, it's good tech news, pretty well
presented, and to my great distraction, provides ample opportunity to review,
comment, talk-back and generally make a pest of oneself. Kinda
hand-in-glove with that come the various, sundry and sometime downright annoying
multiplicity of e-mail newsletters you can subscribe to, or BE subscribed to if
you're not careful. Again, not exactly true tech-geek fare, and they all
too often pimp stories that have been on the site for weeks, if not months, but
as the high-tech news equivalent of fast food, still fun and enjoyable.
So, I check a newly arrived e-mail this afternoon, and what to my wondering
eyes should appear in the text of the brand new "CNet
Membership" newsletter, but my name! Okay, my handle, but still, there
I was! I pulled the appropriate double-take, then clicked through the
handy link
to see what the what was. Sure enough, it was me and my commentary on an
article that's
almost a month old. Not that it's a bad article, but, y'know, what have
you done for us lately, Mr. Van
Buskirk? 'Course, I have an inadvertent hand in this gentle
flim-flammery, but I suspect that's due to my being the first to comment on the
article, thus being the first to catch Mr. Koo's attention.
Still, it is kinda fun to be mentioned in an article of any nature, even if
it ain't my real name. At least when/if I get unplugged from the Matrix, I'll have a cool
name to go by in Zion! And if nothing else, it's a near-perfect topic for
my first truly "blogish" blog entry!
